Mountain Boy

We spent the weekend in the mountains at the cabin with our friends Kelsey and Jeremy.  The weather was gorgeous, Keystone had a Beer and Bluegrass festival and there was a sailing ragatta at Dillon Lake.  All in all it was great weekend to be up in the mountains.  James was quite an emotional roller coaster showing off some of his finer and not so fine moments to our friends.  Overall we had a great time and I think James proved to be an effective form of birth control for everyone.

James caught sight of the 4-wheeler and 3-wheeler in the garage and quickly dubbed them, "Big tractor," and "Little tractor."  Only the 4-wheeler works right now but when Tim turned it on James about lost his mind he got so scared of the noise (meltdown #7).  He was however a huge fan of being pushed around on the non-functioning, "Little tractor," it was much more quiet.
Despite not getting a normal nap, James had a great time at the Keystone Beer and Bluegrass Fest.  He loved listening to the live music and asked to be right up near the stage so that he could see the instruments.  He also got to experience his first Bouncy-House.  He loved every second of it until we told him he had to get out (meltdown #27).  A person walking by said, "I have never heard a kid shriek that loud before!" I was so proud.

Enjoying the bluegrass music.
On Saturday we went on a hike by the cabin.  Tim and I are officially the worst navigators ever. Everytime we go on this hike we get lost and end up hiking for hours longer than we planned. At least Tim was around to share in the baby carrying duties.  Jax even joined us and although I was convinced he was on the verge of a heart attack several times, he somehow finished it in one piece.
Today before heading home, we went over to Dillon Lake to see the sail boats and to let James play on the playground and throw rocks.  Here he is about to head down a slide that he decided he did not want to go down once he was about halfway down.  He was trying to grab hold of the sides with his hands, which burned them and made him scream bloody murder (meltdown #93).  His poor little fingers are covered in blisters now-poor guy. :-(
Throwing rocks into the lake made him feel much better.

But meltdown #94 happened when I wanted him to stop throwing rocks to take a family picture.
We had a great time getting away for the weekend and enjoying time together as a family.

Poor James and poor you and Tim ~ meltdowns are no fun for anyone! It sounds like a great weekend, though!

Your post made me laugh - all those meltdowns. At least it seems that he has just as many (if not more) cute/happy moments too : )

I know exactly what you are talking about with the quick and numerous meltdowns! Taylor has also been melting down about 97 times a weekend, thankfully they are over quickly and we can move on.

Looks like a great weekend, meltdowns included. Today Alec went in a jumpy castle at the mall, and my cousin's wife and I had to each pull one of his legs and drag him by the belly to get him out. He and James seem to have quite a few things in common.

Love the little tractor, love the fun weekend. Just wait until James is 3 and not only yells and screams but can effectively talk back -- yay little people!
