I've always loved holidays, but having kids who love holidays makes me get even more excited about them. We love to go all out for every holiday around here, and St. Patrick's Day is no exception! We decorated for St. Patrick's Day this year and have been having fun reading books, drawing rainbows and leprechauns and hiding gold for each other since the beginning of the month. On Friday night we spent the night in Denver and had the perfect view for the (World's longest) St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday morning. It went right by our condo, so we got to enjoy the show from the comforts of the living room instead of sitting on a cold sidewalk. That is my kind of parade! (We left Denver 4 1/2 hours after the parade began and it was still going strong!)
Our St Patrick's Day flair:
We came home Saturday afternoon and James immediately went into high gear looking for evidence of leprechauns, making up songs about leprechauns, and finding all his gold from last year's leprechaun hunt.
The boys woke up this morning to little leprechaun Lego mini figues and were delighted to see little green footprints on the toilet, as well as green leprechaun pee inside the toilet. There is nothing more funny than potty jokes to these two, and a certain dad I know does nothing to discourage it.
My attempt at a shamrock shaped waffle for breakfast.
We met our friends in the park for our 2nd annual leprechaun hunt after breakfast. James had really been hoping that another sneaky leprechaun would leave some gold for him this year, and he was not disappointed.
The kids were all thrilled to find their share of leprechaun gold. Every single piece that Mac found, he would hold up and yell, "Gold! Look mama! Leprechaun Gold!"
Almost our whole leprechaun hunting crew.
After finding gold, the kids got to work creating their own leprechaun traps.
James filled his trap with gold, and later green food, and hung it from a tree.
We had a green feast for the kids and a rainbow fruit and veggie tray-isn't it pretty?!

I am feeling pretty lucky that these two little crazy, funny, boys are mine. Potty jokes and all.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
