Cormac's Baptism

We had Cormac baptized into the Catholic Church on Saturday. Thomas is his Godfather and Carly (Tim's cousin and Goddaughter) is his Godmother.  He wore the same gown that James, Tim, Dave and at least two more generations of Nichols wore during the baptism ceremony. For church he wore a romper/Jon Jon that belonged to Thomas when he was a baby.

The whole Nichols family in their Saturday evening best.
While certainly not my typical style for my boys, I seriously adore how sweet Cormac looks in this romper.
Macky was in a great mood all evening (even when having water poured on his head) and after the ceremony we all had dinner together at a local restaurant. It was a very special day full of tradition where Cormac was surrounded by people who loved him. He is a very lucky baby boy.

Weber Elementary-The New Class

This week we have had 2 playdates with girls I have been friends with since elementary school and their kids. It is pretty awesome to have so many people that I grew up with that have kids the same age as James and/or Cormac. On Tuesday we went swimming with Lacey, Tonia, Holland, Erin and all of their respective kiddos. Here are Augustino, Kellen and Cormac. This is as good as it gets with 3 mobile babies.
The Nichols and Sungy boys. I think even if you couldn't see their faces, you would be able to tell which boy belonged to which family by skin tone alone. Ha!
Taking a swimming break to eat lunch with Alec and Audrina.
Back for more swimming with Riley and Alec after lunch.

Today we met back up with Erin and her boys and with Christy Schuster and her two kids. I had not seen Christy since high school and had so much fun seeing her and meeting her kids. Her son Teddy fit in perfectly with Alec and James and they all got along great. I didn not hear one argument or tantrum all day, which is pretty amazing for three 3 year olds.
Lily, Cormac, and Charlie. These 3 babies look so much like their mamas, I should have gotten us in the picture too!

Another great weekend for boating

Yesterday after naps, we headed up to Ft Collins and met Steve, Amberly and the girls at Horsetooth Reservoir. It has been HOT here, so it felt great to cool off on the water.
Steve took us out on his boat and James loved it. This is him telling Steve to, "Go faster!"
About 30 seconds into the boat ride, this is what Mac looked like.

Waking up all smiles about 30 seconds after the boat stopped moving.
We anchored in a cove to relax for a bit and James and Taylor entertained everyone by dancing.
Hanging out on the tube (the boat was docked, so this is safer than it looks).
It is hard to believe it is almost August! We have been trying to pack as much fun into the summer as we can, and spending time at a lake is a great way to do it!

He is Mobile!

It's not pretty. And it is far from efficient, but Macky finally figured out how to crawl today. My favorite part is when he wants to sit up and he sticks his bum way up in the air and then slams down into the splits. (see the last 2 pictures) Hilarious.

Beaching it Colorado Style

We spent Sunday at Boyd Lake in Loveland with our friends the Haleys, Gahns and Andrews. They all have kids roughly James and Mac's ages which makes things a lot of fun for everyone. The set up of the lake is pretty perfect, there is a swimming beach right next to a big grassy area, a playground and restrooms. The Andrews have a boat, so everyone got to take turns going out for rides. When they weren't boating, the big kids spent the day digging in the sand only taking a few forced breaks for some shade.
 Colin, James, John and Riley.
Our shaded compound full of babies, beer and food. (I spy 4 babies in this photo and 2 big kids)
Cheetos, Doritos and watermelon=perfect lake food.

Mac and his buddy Cam. They have to be best friends because their names spell each other's backwards.
After hours spent playing in the sun, James came home and crashed hard. Mac did too, (crosses fingers and knocks on wood) he slept through the night for the first time ever!!!!! Woohooo, go Macky! Keep it up little man! I am sure I have thoroughly jinxed myself by writing it down, but James took 18 months to sleep through the night for the first time. Mac cut that in half, so it is well worth documenting :-)

Florida

Mac and I spent 4 days last weekend in Marco Island with my mom, Uncle Mark, Aunt Wendy, my cousin Leo and her best friend, Juliette. They had gone to Harry Potter World in Orlando and then drove down and met Macky and I in Marco where Tim's parents were nice enough to let us use their house. Mac was a great traveler and I had a really nice time with my family. I was nervous about going to Florida in July, but the weather was fantastic. We spent every morning on the beach and a lot of time in the pool. Here are some photos that Mark took while we were there.

I hadn't seen Leo in a couple of years and had so much fun seeing how much she has grown and meeting her friend Juliette (who LOVED Mac). James enjoyed his time with Tim and his Mimi, but was ready for Mac and I to get home. It was the longest I had ever been away from James and while I enjoyed going 4 days not hearing a 3 year old tantrum, I missed him like crazy. It was good to have our little family of 4 together again :-)

9 Month Update

Remember how I said I wish I could freeze time for Cormac at 8 months old? Well, now I really wish that. Separation anxiety hit Mac full force pretty much on his 9 month birthday and unless he is being held by me, he is rather unpleasant to be around. Add to this cutting a 5th tooth, being on the verge of crawling and spending time away from home for 4 days and his sleep has gone to absolute crap again. Oh well, at least he is still cute.
Mac is sooooo close to crawling, it is almost painful to watch him try and not get anywhere. He spends anytime spent on the floor looking like this:
But the second he sees James (or is held by me) it is all smiles again.
When Mac laughs, you can totally see his Tow Mater teeth which crack me up.
Does anyone else see an uncanny resemblance??
We just got back from Mac's 9 month well baby appointment and got all his stats. It was not just my imagination that he has had a crazy growth spurt in the last couple of months. He now weighs in at 20 lbs!!! James was almost 2 before he weighed that much! That puts him in the 40th percentile for weight (which baffles me-seriously, 60% of 9 month olds are bigger than him???). He is 29 1/2 inches long, which is the 80th percentile and his head is in the 97th percentile. Mac and I spent a few days in Florida with my mom, uncle, aunt and cousin over this past weekend. In trying to pack as little as possible, I did not bring my camera (but I also knew my uncle would have my dream camera with him). As soon as I get the photos he took on the trip, I will share some. Despite his general clingyness and frustration with being non-mobile, Mac did great travelling and it was nice to spend so much quality time where I was able to focus all of my attention on him.
