Bennett's 3rd Month

Well, this whole blogging with 3 kids thing is clearly going well. Benny is almost 4 months old and I am just now getting around to his 3 month update! Once again, Benny's 3rd month flew by! Between the boys' school, working from home a little bit for HCB, helping Tim get his new practice opened and the holidays, it has been a whirlwind aorund here!
The highlight of Benny's 3rd month was when he started sleeping through the night, a good 8-10 hours straight! This miracle was rather short lived and was quickly followed up by what I have learned is the 4 month sleep regression. Our awesome sleeper started sleeping worse than he did as a newborn! Oh well, I knew it was too good to last!
We all continue to love every second of Benny and smother him with snuggles, hugs and kisses pretty much all day, every day.
The older Benny gets, the more obvious it is how much he resembles Mac. These Santa pictures look identical to Mac at his first Christmas! As much as they look alike, their personalities are pretty much opposite. Benny is possibly the most laid back baby ever. He is content to just hang out and take everything in around him and rarely fusses. The only time I hear him fuss is if he is hungry or tired. His schedule is very predictable, so it is pretty easy to guess when he is ready for a nap or ready to eat and he stays perfectly content pretty much all day long!

I realized that I was wearing or holding Benny pretty much all day long, so I started putting him on the ground or in his bouncy chair or swing some this month. He absolutely loooooved to lay under the Christmas tree and look up at the lights. He is very verbal compared to James and Mac as babies. He gurgles and coos and tried to carry on little conversations with anyone who will listen.

The boys continue to absolutely adore Benny. They love to hold him and try to make him smile and try to hand him toys. They were both very excited to shop for his Christmas presents and are anxious for him to be able to play with them.

Getting a big smile out of Benny is pretty easy, but Tim is the best at getting him to laugh. He can get a pretty good chuckle out of him anytime he tries. He hasn't done a full on belly laugh yet, but he definitely has an adorable little laugh that he mainly saves for his Daddy.

We are excited to share our favorite time of year with Benny and include him in all of our holiday traditions.

Bennett's 2nd Month

It is hard to believe another month has passed since Bennett joined our family! He is really the perfect baby and we are all so happy with our family of 5. My only complaint is how fast his newborn days are flying by. It almost seems unfair how quickly my teeny, squishly little newborn has turned into a chubby, smiling, cooing baby.

The major milestone this last month has been Benny starting to smile. He is always very smiley in the morning and he loves to smile at certain sounds we make. Mac loooooves to make him smile and is almost always successful at getting a sweet grin out of him by saying, "Coooooo!" in a high pitched voice.

Benny is still my rock star sleeper, and I couldn't be happier about it! He has started sleeping anywhere from 6-8 hours in his first stretch of sleep when I put him to bed at night. He is in a swaddle/sleepsack combo and sleeps in his cosleeper right by my side of the bed.
He has settled himself into a very predictable routine, which has made life with 3 pretty easy. He wakes up and nurses at about 7:30, which gives me time before that to get myself and the boys ready for the day. He then falls asleep on our way to taking the boys to school, either in the wrap or in the stroller.
During the day Benny nurses every 3 hours like clockwork. He is awake for about an hour after he eats and then he is ready to fall asleep again. He naps the longest in a wrap, and it allows me to actually get things done, so for now that is where he naps 90% of the time.
I absolutely love having him snuggled up against me. Wearing him in a wrap is one of my very favorite things and I am in no hurry for him to grow out of wanting to be worn so much!

He isn't the biggest fan of spending time anywhere but in someone's arms, but we are starting to work up to longer stretches (10 minutes) where he will hang out in his chair or bouncy seat or on a blanket on the floor.
Benny loves being in the water and getting a bath, but HATES it when he has to get out and get dried off and dressed.

I finally got enough motivation to switch over to cloth diapers when we are at home. I have been able to stay on top of laundry (the amount of laundry that 3 kids produce is crazy!) and to keep things easy, I am doing disposables when we are gone from the house for longer stretches of time. Benny loves laying on his changing table and we usually stretch diaper chages out quite a bit when we are at home because he loves to lay there with his diaper off and coo at the white shelves on the wall.
Benny had his 2 month check up and weighs 12 lbs 9 oz (60th %) and is 23 1/2 inches long (75th %). His head is 41.5 cm (99th %). He seems positively enormous to me.
James and Mac continue to be the best big brothers we could ask for. They love that he is awake a little bit more and still love holding him and snuggling him. Mac is always the first to jump up to try to help if Benny is crying. He will bring him a pacifier, bounce his seat, sing him songs, or give him hugs and he is actually pretty good at calming him down until I can get to him. James almost always asks to hold Benny before bed each night.
\
The boys actually love getting their pictures taken with Benny, which has allowed me to get a lot of cute brother pictures. Mac especially loves it when they match. He will often run to hug Benny cheek to cheek and tell me, "Take a picture of these cute faces!"
When I was pregnant, the thought of bedtime with 3 kids was what worried me the most. We have it pretty well figured out, and I have even managed it by myself a few times when Tim hasn't been home.
As sad as I am that Benny is growing so quickly, it is also a lot of fun to see him get older and develop a little personality. He has all 4 of us wrapped around his little finger and is showered with more snuggles and kisses each day than he probably knows what to do with. We have had such a wonderful 2 months getting to know our sweet baby!

Halloween!

Our Halloween festivities started the weekend before Halloween at Longmont's annual Halloween parade down Main Street. It is really one of my most favorite events of the year. It just doesn't get any cuter than seeing hundreds of little kids dressed up in costumes. This year the boys were Yoda, The Flash and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The weather that day was fantastic and we had such a great morning!
James and his friend Jasper, a tarantula.

 Mac with Carter and Cam.
The boys with the Hines, Andrews and Gahns post-parade.
It just isn't a holiday without some cute matching outfits around here :)

Mac celebrated the day before Halloween with a parade and party in his preschool class at Central.

 Pumpkin carving round 1.
On the day of Halloween, Tim had off of work so we were all able to go to Central for the parade. All the classes parade around the field and then the 5th graders do a dance to Thriller. It is pretty much the best. Benny did what he does best and looked adorable while sleeping through the whole thing.

James and his buddies in his class-Jasper, Erik, Finn, Jack and Andrew.
Since James and Mac are far beyond the hope of me ever picking/coordinating their costumes again, I set my sights on finding the cutest newborn Halloween costume ever for Benny this year. Success!
My friend, Kyla, who did my maternity and newborn photos of Benny took some photos of him in his costume since I loved it so much.

And I had to snap a few more the day of Halloween.

After school it was time for pumpkin carving round 2.

Heading out to trick or treat around our neighborhood. My dad joined us this year and I can't believe we got a good picture with everyone looking with just one shot!
We just went right around our house for a few blocks, but the boys got quite the haul! Several neighbors had fire pits outside and had spiked cider or hot chocolate for the adults. It was a perfect night, I love our neighborhood!
Important decisions: which 10 pieces to keep.....
All cozied up in jammies to watch Nightmare Before Christmas.
What a great Halloween!
