Happy James

Tonight James thought that playing fetch with Jax was literally the funniest thing in the world. He could not stop laughing anytime we threw the ball to Jax. This went on for about 20 minutes. Cutest. Thing. Ever. (if you listen carefully at the end of the video, you can hear James' heavy mouth breathing that is his new borderling creepy thing to do)

He was also a happy boy after his bath tonight. It was a good night to be James I guess.

Preppy James. Hippy James.

We like to balance the plaid out with some tye die every once in awhile.

James' New Trick

James can now take off his own diapers. Awesome. The other night he was playing on the floor in the living room in only his diaper after dinner (he eats naked) and we were in the kitchen. This is what we found when we came out to the living room:

He was pretty pleased with himself:That night when James woke up to eat for the first time, I took off his jammies because he was all sweaty. The next morning when he woke up, this is what he looked like in his crib:

He only had the diaper halfway off, but he still managed to pee all over his crib. Awesome. And as you can see, he was not amused I laughed at him and decided to take his picture before singing him his good morning song. Don't worry, 2 seconds later he was all smiles as soon as he heard his song. I guess jammies aren't optional anymore. I wonder how long before he learns to take those off too? He has always loved being naked.

Picnic

This afternoon James, Jax, and I spent a couple of hours killing time at Wash Park while the condo was being shown. Tim met us with a picnic when he got off work and we had a really nice evening. It was one of my favorite nights so far this summer. I mean, I know we are always a family, but it was one of those times I actually stopped and thought, "Wow, we are a family. I am so lucky."

And to make up for the last post with so many un-flattering pictures of the boy, there is an obscene amount of cuteness in this post. Hopefully these will be good enough to warrant some comments :-) (hint, hint all you lurkers)

Just hanging out being irresistibly cute:

Buddies

With cousin Matt -not a great picture of James, but it is Matt's goal to make the blog so I have to oblige :-)
Giving cousin Taylor a hug-we tried to take more pictures but James found that red hair to be irresistable and kept pulling it. Taylor was a very good sport about it, she has mutual feelings for James' feet.
With Dad, Uncle Steve, and Taylor
Grandma Fererro on her last day in Denver and James channeling Jaba the Hut
Hanging with Audrina-James kept trying to grab her face (big surprise) so we had to put them on opposite sides of the chair. I think this picture does a good job of showing how giant James' head is compared to the average baby. And just because, James modeling his 4th of July outfit. (shorts and shirt size 3-6 month and too big, hat size 12-24 month and just right-poor big headed baby) And for those in the market for patriotic baby outfits-this whole outfit is from Osh Kosh and was $13!

8 Months Old!

Another month has flown by in James' first year. We love watching his personality develop and having him interact with us more and more each day. He is getting more vocal and lets us know when he likes/dislikes by screeching/squaking appropriately. He is smiling and laughing more, but still has his moments of being Mr. Serious and just being a good observer. He is starting to eat more and enjoys meal times more than when he first started solids. He has also started to recognize us more and is showing a preference for me and Tim, although he still loves it when other people hold him and talk to him. When one of us has been away from him and we return, he flaps his arms like a maniac . He loves to roll around and play with toys and gets bored when we don't entertain him enough. We love him so much and are enjoying him being a little baby, because this year is flying by and it is hard to think he won't be a baby for much longer!
Here are the top 8 things to know about James on his 8 month birthday:
1. James loves mango and green beans
2. James has started to babble and makes dadadada noises the most frequently
3. James loves to listen to us sing songs to him and his current favorite is The Grand Old Duke of York (a Book Baby favorite)
4. James love to reach out and grab just about anything-particularly faces, hair, glasses, and jewelry
5. To go along with #4, James loves looking at our rings and tries to grab them off our fingers.
6. One of James absolute favorite things is to drink water out of a glass with our help.
7. James is a rolling maniac and will now roll, roll, roll to get somewhere
8. James likes to give hugs and open mouth kisses

8 Month Outtakes

As Jodi warned me, it has become increasingly difficult to take James' picture next to a piece of paper without him trying to eat and/or attack it.

Santa Fe and Father's Day!

James checked one more state off his to-visit list this weekend (5 down, 45 to go). We went to visit our great friends, Laura and Luke in Santa Fe. Luke just had his first book published, Obsessive Branding Disorder (http://www.amazon.com/OBD-Obsessive-Branding-Disorder-Illusion/dp/1586484680) so we went down for the launch party. This was James' first road trip and he did surprisingly well. He took naps, had a few rest area nursing sessions, and kept busy with toys, books, and singing songs while he was awake.
At the book signing/release party sporting a sweater vest and plaid shorts (loves it):

James tired of Luke's speech rather quickly and crashed out in his babyhawk. Luckily the Day of the Dead print suited our location and matched my dress:James woke up after the speech just in time for Coronas and some toe sucking:Out to breakfast on Father's Day:

Meeting Bald Cat Jr. AKA Walter (1 of Laura and Luke's 2 bald cats):Crashed out after a long day looking at turqouise and eating green chili:

It's Official

Today Tim signed a contract with Little Britches, a pediatric dental practice in Longmont. This is his business card (how professional):
Our condo is also now on the market, http://www.recolorado.com/Search/propertyDetail.asp?mls_number=667823 so send 'quick selling condo vibes' our way. Keeping the place ready to show with baby and schnoodle is no fun at all, so hopefully it will not be on the market for long. This might be the first post ever with no pictures of James, BORING. So I will get busy on the next more James-friendly post stat.

Endless Entertainment

James' new favorite activity is to take toys out of his toy basket one at a time, taste them, and repeat until the basket is empty. Then he usually tips over and we start all over again.

His other new thing is to grab our face with both hands and give us an open mouth kiss somewhere in the general vicinity of our mouth. Yummy!
