Last Day of Preschool

James' last day of his first year of preschool was today. Since his school is mixed age, this also included a graduation for the 5 year olds who are moving up to Kindergarten next year. He has changed so much since his first day of school, I had to do a side by side comparison! We have all loved The Bella Vita School for James this year. He has made new friends, learned a lot, and had tons of fun. When I asked James what his favorite part of preschool was this year, he said learning about superheros. This is James' best superhero face on the way to the program this morning.
In front of his school.
They had a program outside with 3 songs and the graduation ceremony for the 5 year olds. It was super cute, and James did awesome! He sang his song, complete with actions and smiled the whole time. I was so proud! He did not have any sign of the stage fright that plagued him at the Holiday program. Here is Mac enjoying the show.
James' group were back up singers for the 5 year olds who wrote their own song called, "Kindergarten."
James and his best school buddy, Cyrus.
James has been taking photography class on Wednesdays at school and they had a show of their best work up in the school. This is James' photo, which I think is awesome.
James in the garden at school. If you knew what our garden at home looked like right now, it makes it even more impressive.
My handsome boys after the program.
James is actually attending summer camp at Bella Vita for 2 mornings a week in June and July, so this wasn't goodbye to school for too long. Something that he and I are both excited about. I think I like preschool days just as much as James does :-)

Rockies

I had a friend from SAS in town the past couple of days, so we stayed in Denver and went to the Rockies game yesterday. It felt much more like a post season game than a spring game, but we still had fun. Being the always prepared mom that I am, I only had short sleeved shirts for both the boys to wear. We brought the blanket off of James' Rockies bed and bought James a new sweatshirt before the game started and were good to go.
Mac didn't seem to mind the chilly weather and fell asleep in my lap all bundled up in the blanket during the 2nd inning.

Random photos from the week....

For awhile I was thinking that Mac looked a lot like James. But as he gets older, he is starting to look a lot less like James and a lot more like....Mac. But they do have a few of the same faces, like sucking in their lower lip when they are smiling. My favorite time of day is in the morning when both boys come in our bed to snuggle. They are so happy to see each other in the morning. Mac nurses in our bed in the morning as he wakes up, and when he is done he blows rasberries like crazy cooing and smiling at everyone like it is just the best thing in the whole world to wake up right next to your whole family. I agree.
Cormac just chillin with Stella in his crib.
Starting off the day with a little nudey time.
James and I built, if I do say so myself, the coolest fort ever this week. It has become a permanent fixture in our basement for the time being.
James kept forcing Jax to spend time in the fort too.
Fort Jazz Hands.
This morning we had a family get together for James' school at the park. The kids played some soccer, which was mass chaos and pretty cute.
Mac's first "official" time on the swing. I say official because Tim put him in a swing in FL, but I was not there to see it or document it so I am pretending it did not happen.
James brought his stomp rocket to the park, which was a HUGE hit with his school friends.
How is it almost the end of May already?! We are finally getting some actual Spring weather, so hopefully it will stick around before we get into full blown summer time heat!

Arizona

Last weekend we went to Arizona for the weekend to celebrate Thomas graduating from NAU. For a fairly non kid friendly weekend, both boys did great. James and Mac continue to be great little travelers and we are lucky they are both so flexible with things like where and when they sleep, or in Mac's case, don't sleep. A look into the future of what James and Mac's college houses are sure to look like:
How to entertain a 3 year old at a college kid's house? Knocking over empty beer cans with a nerf ball of course. Thanks Auntie Amberly :-)
Friday night we went out to dinner and Mac did great staying up well past his typical bedtime. He even gnawed on a carrot and some pizza crust at dinner.
Surprisingly, the graduation ceremony did not hold the interest of either of the boys. They got some rest in so they were ready for the party after the ceremony.
James made himself right at home at Tom's house during his graduation party and loved every second of the beer cap table and Kock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.
One our way back to Phoenix from Flagstaff on Sunday, we drove through Sedona which is beautiful. James was very excited to check out some cactus up close and personal.
We had a great weekend spending time with family and exploring a new state. Arizona is the 4th state Mac has been to and the 10th state James has been to! (5th and 11th if we count the night spent in Georgia)

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day today with my 3 favorite boys in the whole world. I got to (kind of) sleep in until almost 7:30 (after waking up at 12, 3, and 5:45) and got 2 sweet cards, a chai tea and a new garden decoration. We spent the morning at the nursery picking out plants and seeds and (watching Tim) get the garden started. Then we got dressed up and went up to Ft Collins and had a late brunch with Steve, Amberly and the girls.
The weather was amazing today and we all enjoyed sitting outside this afternoon watching the kids play.
I am especially reminded today how lucky I am to have such an amazing mom, mother in law, and to be a mama myself to 2 wonderful boys. I couldn't ask for anything more.
