Pre-Easter

When James got home from school today he was surprised to see that the Easter bunny had come to visit! We will be in Florida for Easter this year so we wanted to give James his Easter loot without dragging it with us on vacation. He and Mac got their baskets with some goodies (James' was super hero themed) and then he went on an egg hunt in the backyard. James was so excited and said, "I must be the luckiest boy in town!"
One of James' presents from the Easter bunny (Ama) was a Batman cape which obviously was worn for the rest of the day (and I am sure many days to come).
I also took our pre-Easter celebration as an opportunity to try on the boys' Easter outfits so I could get pictures with their Easter baskets since they won't come with us on vacation either.
This is James saying, "I found more eggs than anyone!" Ummm, we didn't tell him he was the only one looking. Each egg had 1 m&m or 1 jelly bean inside. He was ecstatic that after dinner he got to pick out one egg to open and eat the treat inside. Who knew how exciting 1 jelly bean could be?
I didn't plan for Mac's Easter outfit to match his basket, but I love that it does.
Extreme ridiculousness below:
We are SO excited to get down to Florida and enjoy the sun and beach! Hopefully Macky will love it as much as James does down there. And who knows, maybe the humidity will have the magical effect of making him sleep. We can hope...Happy Easter!!

James is 3 1/2!

I realized today that James is exactly 3 1/2. Wow! How is it my first baby is so close to 4?! Here are some things to know about James at 3 1/2:
  • He is terrified of the dark and loud noises. The mere thought of fireworks or a movie theater is enough to send him over the edge.
  • James is obsessed with all things super hero.
  • He can hear a song a few times and be able to sing all of the lyrics with the correct tune, which has made me and Tim start to question the music we listen to around him.
  • Pop music continues to be James' favorite, with Ke$ha's We Are Who We Are as his current favorite song.
  • He is very sensitive and has a really hard time leaving places and saying goodbye to friends.
  • James tells us a bajillion times a day that he loves Mac with all his heart.
  • He loves reading chapter books.
  • He has gotten dressed by himself exactly once. (I am glad I took pictures)
  • He is the sweetest, smartest, silliest boy I know and I am glad he is mine.

Weekend Fun

To kick off our busy weekend, we had a mama and kid pizza and movie night on Friday while all the dads went to the Rockies game and spent the night in Denver. The kids watched Tangled in their pajamas and sleeping bags and got to eat popcorn. They were in heaven.
On Saturday we went to Riley's 3rd Birthday in Arvada. James had a blast playing with his friends and going on an Easter egg hunt (Riley's actual birthday is on Easter this year) and Mac just hung out looking pretty adorable.
James was pretty stoked he got a super hero mask and a super hero themed goody bag. He has been wearing the mask non-stop since Saturday.
On Sunday we went to the Rockies/Cubs game and had friends over to the condo before the game. Here is Mac and his buddy Cam rooting for their teams.

Mac stayed at the condo with a sitter and James stayed for most of the game before joining him. This is Poulos and James not cooperating for a group photo.
Babies love Ryan.

6 Month Stats

Cormac had his 6 month well baby check today. I spent most of the appointment venting about how terrible Macky is at sleeping. It was really more like a therapy session for me and I am pretty sure the pediatrician was glad to get me out of there. Besides sleep, Mac is practically perfect in every way. I think his bones must be made of styrofoam because once again he surprised us with his weight. He is 16lbs 5 oz, which is the 30th percentile. He still has about a pound to go before he doubles his birth weight. Mac is 27 inches long which is in the 80th percentile and his head circumference is holding steady at the 95th percentile. You would never know that he had a couple of shots and napped for 7 minutes today looking at how happy he is in these pictures from tonight.
Mac wore his formal wear to his appointment.
The only update since my lengthy 6 month post last week is that Macky has officially found his feet and he loves every second of them. Everytime he grabs them and sucks on them he gurgles and coos like crazy. "Where have these things been the last 6 months?!"

Happy Birthday Jax!

Today is our sweet schnoodle's 6th birthday. James was very excited to celebrate it and came in our room bright and early and hopped into bed to sing to him. He was also very excited to make Jax a birthday cake. Tim helped him make a taste sensation doggy cake consisting of dog biscuits, peanut butter and a zantac.
As much as Jax's barking drives me bonkers, I sure am glad he is a part of our family. We all love him so much and wish him a very happy 6th (or 42nd) birthday!

Miracles Happen

James is great at a lot of things. Getting himself dressed and undressed just does not happen to be one of those things. Some mornings he can take off his pajama pants and put on underwear by himself and that is about it. The other morning I was in the kitchen with Macky and had left James naked with his pile of clothes that he had picked out so he could try to get dressed himself (just like I do every morning, 99% of the time he is still completely naked 10 minutes later). He started yelling, "Mama! I am so proud! You will be so proud! The whole town of Longmont will be so proud! Get in here!" (no joke, he literally said the whole town of Longmont, I was dying laughing) I went into the room and found him getting himself dressed for the first time ever. I had to run and get the camera because I knew Tim wouldn't believe it!
Success!
Now he hasn't done this since, but this is proof that miracles can happen and my 3 1/2 year old can in fact get himself dressed without any help!

6 Months Old!

How is it possible that Cormac is already halfway through his first year?! I am having so much fun seeing him grow up and change, but it also makes me sad that it is going by so quickly. Mac has changed a lot in this last month. He has become pretty proficient at sitting up all by himself for long stretches before losing his balance. I literally don't think he has rolled over since last month though. He has little interest in laying on the floor and would much rather be sitting up. Mac will reach out and grab anything and everything and bring it straight into his mouth to chew on. His favorite things to chew on are his fists, our drinking glasses and his Sophie the Giraffe. He is still a drooling maniac but we don't see any signs of teeth breaking through yet. Mac has been showing all the signs of being ready for solid foods for a few weeks now. We have tried a few times and he is pretty indifferent towards the whole experience right now. He pretty much just spits everything directly out of his mouth immediately. So we will keep trying every few days and see when the desire to eat something more than just breastmilk hits him. I am in no hurry. Just nursing is much easier and neater for now :-)
James has always been a huge fan of Mac, but in the last month he has seriously fallen in love with him. I think the fact that he can now make Mac laugh and interact with him has changed Mac from a cute blob into a real person in James' eyes. He tells me all the time how Mac is his best friend, how they will be brothers forever, how much he loves him and how even when they grow up they will live together (and sleep in super hero bunk beds). And the love is most definitely mutual. James is hands down Mac's favorite person. He cranes his neck to see him anytime he hears his voice and James has to do little more than look at him to make him crack up laughing. It is so gratifying and heart warming to see the two of them enjoy each other so much.
I had to document Mac's half birthday with a couple different photoshoots, so enjoy! Obviously I am biased, but I seriously think he gets cuter by the day. I can't get enough of his big blue eyes and chubby cheeks, which I kiss about 8,000 times each day.
Happy Half Birthday Mac! We love you more than I can put into words and we can't wait to see what the next 6 months bring!
