Ski Buddies

We spent the weekend up at the cabin and met up with the Raukers and Haleys (friends from the Mont) at Keystone on Saturday so all of the kids could ski together. The weather was pretty chilly, but we stayed warm and James and Tim got in a good morning of spring skiing. Here are my boys all bundled up to hit the slopes.
Dads and kids: Tim and James, Seth and John and Goran and Antonia.
Moms and Babies: Sarah and Niko, Me and Cormac.
James did a great job again. He does not like it when Tim tries to hold onto him to ski and much prefers to do it on his own.
They even did the roller bumps on the bunny hill this time.
We had a great day and then all had dinner together at the cabin. It is so much fun that our friends have places in the mountains too, it gives James some skiing buddies!

Last Week...

We hung out with cousins
Had our first ice cream cone of the season
Got new bibs to absorb the insane amounts of drool that Mac produces
Went to super hero day at art and made Mac a cape so he could get in on the super hero fun
Got an amber teething necklace (which even if it doesn't work sure looks cute)
And went to the aquarium with Addi and Maren
We had a busy week and are looking forward to another full week this week!

Haircuts, Naps, Super Heroes and St Patrick's Day

This is a super random post full of photos from the last week or so. Everyone in the house (except Mac) has gotten much needed haircuts in the last week. James was not too happy with the idea of getting a haircut, but after getting a lollipop (which he called a popsicle) from the hair dresser and then getting a lemonade and balloon after eating at Red Robin for the first time, he declared it to be "the most fantastic day of my life so far!" The kid is easy to please. Showing off haircuts and balloons.
Both my boys fight naps like it is their job. So I will take them when and wherever I can get them. Mac's are usually in his wrap or in my bed.
James is about 90% done with napping (sob!). On the most fantastic day of his life (mentioned above) he had woken up at 6 in the morning (even with daylight savings time) after staying up until 10 the night before. He refused to nap that day but when he went grocery shopping with Tim that afternoon he fell asleep in the cart and then slept the whole way through the store and on the way home.
James is never one to half heartedly get into something-remember Peter Pan and Thomas the Train? Well Super Heroes are the new "thing" around here. James is 150% obsessed with all things super hero. He wants to hear stories about them, read books about them, ask very involved questions about them, pretend to be them and his favorite: plan in elaborate detail his super hero birthday party (including what invitations will look like and who will be there). And incase you are wondering, plans for Halloween with James as Batman, Mac as Robin, Jax as Batdog, Tim as Captain America and me as Cat Woman are well underway in James' world. We will see if this obsession sticks around through October :-) Most days involve wearing a cape of some kind too.
We missed being in Florida this year for St. Patrick's Day, but we still got in the spirit by dressing in green and making some green things to eat. James went to school on Thursday where they made and set leprechaun traps, ate an all green meal and had treats from sneaky leprechauns left for them under their lunch plates :-)
How is that for a random post?

Our Ski Bum

We took advantage of Tim's day off yesterday and the great weather in the mountains to take James skiiing for the first time this season. We headed up Monday night and spent the night at the cabin so we could get an early start yesterday. It snowed Monday night so there was fresh snow but the weather was gorgeous on Tuesday, it was the perfect day for some spring skiiing! Mac was a champ and slept the morning away in the wrap so I could watch my Bubba ski with Tim.
James had so much fun and had a great morning of skiing. When he was ready for a break, Tim took some runs on his own and then they went back out together after refueling with some lemonade and a snack (it was too warm for hot cocoa!).
We kept trying to get James to do a snow plow, but he just points his skis straight down and giggles hysterically until Tim would catch him. I think next season when he is 4 we will get him in some private lessons to work on technique :-)
On the magic carpet lift at the bunny hill at Keystone.
First wipe out. For being such a cautious kid (who to be honest lacks coordination in most areas), James has great balance on his skis. He only tipped over twice yesterday on his 10 or so runs.
Ski Buddies
All done!
We had a great day of skiing (and watching skiing) and are looking forward to getting James up to the mountains a couple more times while the spring skiing is still this great!

5 Months Old!

Things Mac loves right now:
-Blowing spit bubbles
-Sucking on his hands
-Watching James and Jax
-Nursing
-Being worn by me or Tim in the Babyhawk
-Bouncing

Things Mac hates right now:
-Sleeping
-His car seat/being in the car
-Not nursing
What a difference a month makes in the world of a baby! When I looked back at last month's post I had to laugh. Last month I was complaining about a 30-45 minutes nap in the crib, which right now I would kill for! And last month Cormac did an 8 hour stretch of sleep?! Ha! Excuse me while I go curl up in the corner and cry. Mac is in the running for the World's worst sleeper this past month. He is now a fan of the 10 minute nap and waking up every 45 minutes to hour and a half all night long. I have to keep reminding myself that this too shall pass or else I might just cry (which I still do at times). It's a good thing he is so stinking cute. Now moving on to things Mac is better at....

Mac is still an extremely efficient nurser and would pretty much nurse 24 hours a day if I had nothing better to do. This is quite a change from the newborn who used to get mad when I tried to nurse him! He typically nurses every 2 hours during the day, although if we are out and about he will sometimes go 3 hours between feedings. Mac is starting to show a few signs of readiness to start solid foods, but I don't think we will start before he is 6 months old.
Cormac is one strong baby! He can sit unsupported for longer periods of time each day and still loves to stand up when he is holding onto our hands.
Mac is still super smiley and loves to laugh when he is being tickled or having his diaper changed. He has started to hold onto toys and reach out for things, but he is much more interested in chewing on his hands than any toy. He is still a drool machine and soaks through clothes at an alarming rate. Mac loves bath time and we give him a quick soak almost every night as a part of his bedtime routine.
Mac had rolled a few times both belly to back and back to belly but not consistantly. He does not love tummy time but tolerates it pretty well for a few stretches a day.
It is like Mac has finally discovered James and Jax this month and he loves to watch them anytime he is in the same room as either one of them. He has started to turn and look for us when he hears our voices and if I am not holding him he will crane his neck to see where I am. If he can not see me he is not a happy camper. Macky still loves being held and worn pretty much all the time, although he is starting to enjoy playing for longer periods of time on a blanket or on his playmat.
James is still doing great in his role as a big brother. He loves Mac's toys much more than Mac does and his favorite thing to do is have me put Macky in his exesaucer and pretend to conduct the music that it plays. He also loves singing to Mac, You are My Sunshine and Hark the Hearld Angels Sing are his favorites. It melts my heart everytime.
Mac is so much fun and such a sweet baby, we sure are lucky he is ours! (even when he is up all night)
