2 Year Update

James 2 year stats from yesterday:

Weight: 24 lbs 10 oz, 15th percentile!!!

Height: 34.5 inches, 50th percentile

Head: 20 inches, 92nd percentile

As we already knew, James has had a HUGE growth spurt and is no longer our little peanut. His appointment was pretty un-eventful besides the excitement of seing how much he has grown!  After being so worried about his speech at 18 months, the Dr said he seemed pretty advanced with his verbal skills for a boy. His gross motor skills seem pretty average and his fine motor skills may be a little behind, but nothing major. They asked if he could do puzzles and shape sorters and I was like, "Uh, not so much." He is much too busy sitting on his new tractor to play with shape sorters!

My dad is in town this week and got to give James' his birthday present-his favorite by far--a pedal tractor! He loves it. He doesn't really attempt to pedal it, but he is just content to sit on it and load the trailer with a variety of objects. 

James loves all his new toys so much. He was never too keen on staying in the basement and playing with his toys, but that has all changed since his birthday.  He loves everything that he got with the exception of the bike that Tim and I got him.  This bike=biggest gift failure ever. Apparently James has inherited some of Tim's perfectionist tendencies which I have never noticed before his run in with the bike.  James was so excited about the idea of the bike, but he tried sitting on it once and it tipped over.  He proceeded to cry and cry telling us that the bike was broken and asked for a different present.  He has not gone near it since the first unsuccessful attempt at riding it. Flashback to Tim trying to learn to water ski and after not being able to do it perfectly not trying again for 12 years.  Oh well, I assume we will try it again eventually. Otherwise we have a brand new blue Strider bike for whoever wants it :-)  James has put the helmet to good use though. Today he paired it with my Uggs for a dance party in the kitchen. The kid has some major style. 

James has started his 3rd year off with a bang. Throwing tantrums, screaming, yelling and being generally whiny. Lovely. Thank goodness his sweet and funny moments still outnumber his tantrum throwing moments. On his birthday after the bike debacle he was a total grouch. We started making cupcakes and I told him to stir up the big glob of flour. James repeated, "Glob!" and proceeded to laugh until tears streamed down his face and he got the hiccups.  Just a sweet moment that reminded me even when he is being a total pain in the butt, he is still the sweetest and funniest boy I know. The word glob continues to crack him up whenever I say it.
