We just got home from James' 6 month check-up. He is napping on top of me, which is probably how we will spend most of our day. Getting 3 shots is traumatic for both babies and moms. James charmed everyone at the pediatrician's office and even laughed for his nurse. He has gotten much longer since his last appointment-25 1/2 inches (15th percentile). His head continues to be ginormous-a whopping 17 1/2 inches (75th percentile). He is still a peanut with his weight though. He is just 13 lbs 11 oz, he dropped to the 3rd percentile in weight. His pediatrician said we shouldn't be surprised if he drops off the charts weight wise in the next 6 months because once babies become mobile their weight gain really tapers off. But he is super healthy all around. We talked about starting solids, which we may begin in the next month or so, and his sleeping habits which have become not so hot. Unfortunately they did not have any miracle advice for me, so I guess we just need to ride out this crappy sleeping phase. James is doing well with all his developmental milestones, but continues to be on the later side of everything. His pediatrician said with his head to body ratio, James would continue to be a little late with all his gross motor skills. Which is fine by me, I don't think we are ready for him to be mobile yet! We will work on sitting up un-assissted for now.
We went to a barbeque at Wash Park on Saturday for Steff's birthday. In a very un-James like move, he had not pooped in almost 36 hours and chose right when we got to the park to let things go. Of course I had the bright idea of putting him in one of the leftover disposable diapers we had from Florida before we left. Bad idea. Things were so messy we threw away the onesie he was wearing. He spent the rest of the barbeque in only a diaper. It looked like he should be at Walmart sucking on the shopping cart handle and holding a bottle full of Kool-aid. Luckily it was warm out and we had brought a cloth diaper that was neon green, so at least he was a semi-fashionable white trash baby. This proved again that dispoasbles diapers suck-at least for a forceful pooper like James. We have only ever used them when we spend the night away from home, but I think I have converted to cloth even when we travel from now on. Mom and Dad, get your washing maching ready for next month! And, most importantly this taught me to always carry a spare change of clothes in the diaper bag. Lesson learned.

James + hats = insanely adorable! I think the BBQ blowout was James' scheme to be naked, seeing as how he loves his nakedness so much ;)
ha ha! Best story ever!
I love the blue hat on James, and after hearing your disposable diaper stories it makes me so excited for Baby O'Reilly to be decked out in cloth like James!
So, not that there was any question of James' paternity before the bbq, but if his episode at the bbq doesn't confirm he is Tim's son, I don't know what will :)
The contest each day to see which Grandchild posts the cuter picture is getting harder and harder to judge. Today was a tie.
