Legoland!

We hadn't been out to San Diego since our Disney trip 2 years ago, so we surprised the boys with a trip to Legoland to celebrate their birthdays. We wanted to see Jenny, Ian and Zephyr and introduce them to Benny before Christmas, and we figured both boys were the perfect age for a trip to Legoland. Since Benny was named after a Lego character, it seemed fitting that this was his first vacation.

 We spent Friday night at Jenny's house and the boys loved playing with Zephyr. Jenny and Z joined us at Legoland on Saturday, here are the 4 cousins ready to go!

 Benny and I rode exactly one ride-Fairy Tale Brook. The rest of the time, he slept in the wrap or in the stroller and I was more than happy to just watch the boys enjoy themselves.

 James earning his Lego driver's license. Legoland is great for little kids, there are so many rides they can do by themselves.

 We went to the waterpark for a little bit on Saturday. The boys like the little kid areas but were not interested in going on any of the big water slides.

 We checked into the Legoland Hotel on Saturday night and stayed there for 2 nights. It was awesome and every Lego lover's dream come true. It was super themed and cheesey, but our boys loved every single second of it. Here they are the first time they rode the elevator. When the doors close, a disco ball drops down and there is a little dance party until the doors open back up.

 We stayed on the pirate themed floor. The best party about the rooms (besides all the Lego decorations and Legos to play with) was the separate kids' room. They had bunk beds to sleep in and their own tv with an all Lego channel. They were in heaven and both of them were ready to move in.

 The boys got to go on a scavenger hunt and find clues to unlock this treasure chest in our room. It was full of prizes-a Lego set for each of them, chocolate gold coins and Lego magazines. It was even refilled for them the next day!

 We had James' birthday dinner at the Lego restaurant in the hotel. We also ate breakfast there both mornings.

 The boys got to meet several Lego characters on Sunday. Emmett, Wild Style, Lord Vampire and the Lego mummy.

 We spent some time Sunday afternoon at the hotel pool.

We ate dinner on Sunday night over at Jenny and Ian's so the boys could have some more play time with Zephyr.

 On Monday after we checked out of the hotel, we went down to the beach with Jenny. It wasn't very warm and silly me, I assumed the boys wouldn't want to swim. They wasted no time in getting soaking wet in all of their clothes and after Mac face planted into a wave and stripped naked, I sent Tim to the car to get them swim suits.

 As with the rest of the trip, Benny slept through his first visit to the beach.

We had such a wonderful trip and I am so glad that we decided to give traveling with a newborn a shot. Benny was a complete dream on the trip and couldn't have been easier. The boys were the perfect ages for Legoland and the hotel and had an absolute blast. Definitely a memorable first vacation as a family of 5!
